What Makes Lorcana Enchanted Cards Special
Disney Lorcana launched in August 2023 as Ravensburger's flagship trading card game, and it immediately created a category of card that collectors love: the Enchanted card — a foil alternate-art version of existing cards featuring completely reimagined, often more painterly or detailed artwork, with a distinctive warm golden frame.
Enchanted cards are the chase cards of every Lorcana set. They sit above Legendary rarity in the collector's hierarchy, appearing approximately once every 8–12 booster boxes. Their combination of beautiful Disney artwork, genuine scarcity, and the Disney brand's enduring appeal makes them highly collectible.
Enchanted Card Visual Identification
The Warm Golden Frame
The most immediate identifier of an Enchanted card is its distinctive frame treatment. While standard Lorcana cards have a clean, consistent border with the ink colour shown around the edges, Enchanted cards have a warm, golden-tone frame with an ornate, somewhat baroque aesthetic — as if the card has been gilded.
How to identify the frame:
- •Warm gold/amber tones around the card border (unlike the cool, ink-coloured borders on standard cards)
- •The frame has decorative flourishes or ornamental elements not present on standard versions
- •The overall aesthetic is more "magical" and "luxurious" than standard Lorcana cards
Completely Different Artwork
Every Enchanted card features artwork completely different from the standard version of the same card. Where the standard Elsa — Snow Queen might feature a single characteristic pose, the Enchanted version might show a full painted scene with detailed background, atmospheric effects, and a different artistic interpretation.
Foil Treatment
Enchanted cards have a foil treatment across the entire card — not just the artwork — that gives them a shimmering, magical appearance. The foil is more subtle and "warm" in tone than harsh rainbow foils, consistent with the golden frame aesthetic.
Identification Checklist
Enchanted Card Pull Rates
The approximate pull rate for Enchanted cards is 1 per 8–12 booster boxes, depending on the source (different retailers report slightly different rates). With typical booster boxes costing $90–$120, this means an expected cost of $720–$1,440 in boxes to pull one Enchanted card.
This rarity is real — not artificially manufactured by collector perception. Enchanted cards are genuinely scarce, which supports their sustained collector value.
Most Valuable Enchanted Cards
The value of specific Enchanted cards depends on two factors: the rarity and desirability of the underlying card (competitive play rate + character popularity) and the quality of the Enchanted artwork.
The First Chapter (Set 1, TFC) Enchanted Cards
The most valuable Enchanted cards are from The First Chapter, the game's first set, which was also available at more limited retailers before the game's full commercial rollout.

Ursula's Return (Set 4, UR) Enchanted Cards
Values for newer set Enchanted cards tend to start lower and may appreciate over time if the cards see competitive play.
Legendary vs Enchanted: Understanding the Hierarchy
New collectors sometimes confuse Legendary and Enchanted cards. Here's the distinction:
Legendary: A standard rarity tier in Lorcana, equivalent to "Mythic Rare" in MTG. Found approximately 1 per 8 packs. No special frame or foil treatment — just the regular card appearance. Values typically $20–$100 for competitive Legendaries.
Enchanted: Not officially a "rarity tier" in the traditional sense — it's a premium variant of cards that already exist at other rarity levels. Always has the distinctive golden frame and alternate artwork. More rare than Legendary. Values typically $50–$500+ depending on the card.
In Lorcana's rarity system as printed on packs, the order is:
Common → Uncommon → Rare → Super Rare → Legendary → Enchanted (unofficial but understood)
Identifying Standard vs Enchanted: Quick Reference

Using Our Lorcana Scanner for Enchanted Identification
Our free Disney Lorcana scanner specifically flags Enchanted cards. When you upload a photo:
1. The AI identifies the card name and specific character version
2. The frame colour and artwork style are analysed to determine if it's Enchanted
3. If Enchanted, the card is flagged and valued accordingly — Enchanted prices are shown separately from the standard version price
4. The set of origin is identified (crucial for value, as earlier set Enchanteds are generally more valuable)
Photo tip for Enchanted cards: The warm golden frame is the primary identification marker. Photograph in good but indirect light to capture the warm tone of the frame clearly without flash washing out the golden tones.
